Shingles
Our clinic regularly treats shingles using a refined protocol that prioritizes both patient comfort and clinical effectiveness. While traditional Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) often employs plum blossom or seven-star needle tapping, we have transitioned to a combination of neuro-acupuncture and herbal treatments, as we have found this approach to be a more comfortable and efficient method for resolving the condition.
Shingles (Herpes Zoster) is a viral infection caused by the reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus, which is also responsible for chickenpox. Following an initial chickenpox infection, the virus remains dormant within the nervous system for years. It may later resurface due to factors such as aging, high stress levels, or a weakened immune system.
The hallmark symptom of shingles is a painful, blistering rash that typically appears as a single stripe on one side of the body. A significant and common complication is postherpetic neuralgia, a condition characterized by chronic nerve pain. To prevent the infection, the Shingrix vaccine is deemed to have a high level of efficacy. However, a lot of people avoid it because they previously had adverse reactions to vaccines, or other drug therapies.
