Anxiety disorders go beyond normal stress; they involve intense, excessive, and persistent fear that interferes with daily life. While occasional nervousness is common, these disorders involve uncontrollable worry occurring more days than not for at least six months.

Common types include Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), involving chronic worry about everyday events like school performance, and Panic Disorder, characterized by sudden "attacks" with physical symptoms like heart palpitations, sweating, and shortness of breath. These conditions arise from a complex interplay of genetics, brain chemistry (such as serotonin levels), and environmental stressors like trauma or chronic pressure.
